In-Tents Camping!

ADA Plan  

To make sure that In-Tents Camping is suitable and fit for everyone.  The camp was constructed to fit the needs of everyone of every ability. Our camp is based off of the strict guidelines from ADA regulations. 

We want everyone of every ability to be able to enjoy the In-Tents Camping experience.

Accessible Approach / Entrance
 

·  All the routes of travel do not require stairs.
·  The pathways / route are smooth and made of a rubbery slip-resistant material.
·  All pathways are 40 inches wide.
·  All objects that are protruding in circulation paths are easily detectable, and are 28 inches in height.
 

·  Curbs on pathways do not have curb cuts at drives, parking, or drop-offs.
 

 

Ramps
 

·  All the slopes of the ramps are no greater than 1:12.
·  Slope is given as a ratio of the height to the length. 1:12 means for every 12 inches along the base of the ramp, the height increases one inch.
 

·  All ramps longer than 6 feet and have railings on both sides.
 

·  All railings are sturdy and are between 34 and 38 inches high.
 

·  The width between the railings or curbs is at least 36 inches.
 

·  All ramps are non-slippery.
 

·  There is a 5 foot long level landing at every 30-foot horizontal length of ramp, at the top and bottom of ramps and at switchbacks.
 

·  All ramps rise no more than 30 inches between landings.
 

 

Parking and Drop-Off Areas
 

·  There are an adequate number of accessible parking spaces available.
·  All parking spaces are 8 feet wide plus have a 5-foot access aisle.
·  All 8-foot-wide spaces have a minimum of 8-foot-wide access aisles, and have 98 inches of vertical clearance. They are also available for lift-equipped vans.
 

·  At least one of every 8 accessible spaces is van-accessible.
 

·  All access aisles are part of the accessible route to the accessible entrance.
 

·  The accessible spaces are the closest spaces to the accessible entrance.
 

·  Accessible spaces are marked with the International Symbol of Accessibility.
 

·  At van accessible spaces signs read “Van Accessible.”
 

·  There is an enforcement procedure to ensure that accessible parking is used only by those who need it.
 

 

Entrance
 

·  There are no stairs at the main entrance. But there is a ramp.
·  All inaccessible entrances have signs indicating the location of the nearest accessible entrance.
 

·  All alternative accessible entrances can be used independently.
 

·  The entrances of all doors are 34 inches of clear opening.
 

·  There is at least 18 inches of clear wall space on the pull side of the door next to the handle.
 

·  The threshold edge of the doors is ¼ inch high or less.
 

·  Carpeting and mats are a maximum of 1/2 –inches in height.
 

·  All carpeting and mat edges are securely installed to minimize tripping.
 

·  All door handles are no higher than 48 inches and are operable with a closed fist.
 

·  All doors can be opened without too much force.
 

 

Access to Goods and Services
 

·  The layouts of the buildings allow people with disabilities to obtain materials or services without assistance.
 

·  The accessible entrance provided direct access to the main floor, lobby, and elevator.
 

·  All public spaces are on an accessible route of travel.
 

·  The accessible route to all public spaces is at least 36 inches wide.
 

·  There is a 5-foot circle for a person using a wheelchair to reverse direction.
 

 

Doors
 

·  All doors into public spaces have at least a 32-inch clear opening.
 

·  On the pull side of the doors, next to the handle, there is at least 18 inches of clear wall space so that a person using a wheelchair or crutches can get near to open the door.
 

·  All doors can be opened without too much force.
 

·  All door handles are 48 inches high or less and are operable with a closed fist.
 

·  All threshold edges are ¼-inch high or less.
 

 

Rooms and Spaces
 

·  All aisles and pathways to materials and services are at least 36 inches wide.
 

·  There is a 5-foot circle space for a wheelchair to turn completely.
 

·  All carpeting is low-pile, tightly woven, and securely attached along edges.
 

·  In circulation paths through public areas all obstacles are cane-detectable. They are 28 inches in height and are protruding less than 4 inches from the wall.
 

 

Emergency Egress
 

·  There are emergency systems provided and they all have flashing lights and audible signals.
 

Signage for Goods and Services
 

·  Signs and room numbers that are designated permanent to rooms and spaces where goods and services are provided comply with the appropriate requirements for such signage.
 

·  Signs are mounted with centerline 60 inches from the floor.
 

·  Signs are mounted on a wall adjacent to the latch side of the door.
 

·  Raised characters are sized between 5/8 and 2 inches high with high contrast.
 

·  Brailed text is of the same information as the sign.
 

 

Directional and Informational Signage
 

·  Signs that are above 80 inches have letters that are at least 3 inches high with high contrast and a non-glare finish.
 

·  All directional and informational signs comply with the legibility requirements.
 

 

Controls
 

·  All controls that are available for use by the public are located at an accessible height. The side reach is 45 inches. The forward reach is 30 inches. The reachable height is 18 inches. (All meet the requirements.)
 

·  All controls are operable with a closed fist.
 

 

Seats, Tables, and Counters
 

·  The aisles between fixed seating are at least 36 inches wide.
 

·  There are spaces for wheelchair seating distributed throughout.
 

·  The tops of the tables and counters are between 28 and 34 inches high.
 

·  All knee spaces at accessible tables are at least 27 inches high, 30 inches wide and 19 inches deep.
 

·  At each type of cashier counter there is a portion of the main counter that is no more than 36 inches high.
 

·  Food-ordering counters are no more than 36 inches high.
 

 

Vertical Circulation
 

·  There are ramps or elevators to all public levels.
 

·  On each level there are accessible alternative routes.
 

 

Stairs
 

·  All treads to stairs have a non-slip surface.
 

·  All stairs have continuous rails on both sides, with extensions beyond the top and bottom stairs.
 

 

Elevators
 

·  There are both visible and verbal door opening/closings and floor indicators.
 

·  All call buttons in the hallway are no higher than 42 inches.
 

·  The controls inside the cab have risen and braille lettering.
 

·  There is a sign on both door jambs at every floor identifying the floor in raised and braille letter.
 

·  An emergency intercom is provided and identified by braille and raised letters.
 

·  Emergency intercoms are usable without voice communication.
 

 

Usability of Rest Rooms
 

·  All restrooms are accessible to people with disabilities.
 

·  There is at least one rest room that is fully accessible.
 

·  There are signs at inaccessible rest rooms that give directions to accessible ones.
 

 

Doorways and Passages in Rest Rooms
 

·  There is tactile signage identifying rest rooms.
 

·  There are pictograms or symbols used to identify rest rooms and are raised characters and braille is included below them.
 

·  The doorway is at least 32 inches clear.
 

·  Doors equipped with accessible handles are 48 inches high or less.
 

·  Doors can be opened easily.
 

·  The entrance configuration provides an adequate maneuvering space for a person using a wheelchair.
 

·  There is a 36-inch-wide path to all fixtures.
 

 

Stalls
 

·  The stall door is operable with a closed fist inside and out.
 

·  There is a wheelchair-accessible stall that has an area of at least 5 feet by 5 feet, it is clear of door swing.
 

·  In the accessible stall there are grab bars behind and on the side wall nearest to the toilet.
 

·  The toilet seat is 17 to 19 inches high.
 

 

Lavatories
 

·  All lavatories have a 30-inch-wide by 48-inch-deep clear space in front.
 

·  The lavatory rim is no higher than 34 inches.
 

·  There is at least 29 inches from the floor to the bottom of the lavatory apron.
 

·  The faucets can be operated with one closed fist.
 

·  Soap dispensers and hand dryers are within reach ranges and usable with one closed fist.
 

·  The mirror mounted with the bottom edge of the reflecting surface is 40 inches high or lower.
 

 

Additional Access:
 

Drinking Fountains
 

·  There is at least one fountain with clear floor space of at least 30 by 48 inches in front.
 

·  All water fountains are composed of one fountain with its spout no higher than 36 inches from the ground, and another with a standard height spout.
 

·  Controls for the fountains are mounted on the front or on the side near the front edge, and operable with one closed fist.
 

·  Each water fountain is cane-detectable. (They are within 27 inches of the floor.)
 

 

Telephones
 

·  Public telephones are provided in the main office. There is clear floor space of at least 30 by 48 inches in front of them.
 

·  The highest operable part of the phone is no higher than 48 inches.
 

·  The phone protrude is no more than 4 inches into the circulation space.
 

·  The telephones have push-button controls.
 

·  The phones are hearing-aid compatible.
 

·  The phones are adapted with volume control.
 

·  The phone volume control is identified with appropriate signage.
 

·  There is at least one phone equipped with a text telephone.
 

·  This location of the text telephone is identified by accessible signage bearing the International TDD Symbol.
